New Devices – Ubiquiti (Posted May 27, 2024)

These are new devices that Ubiquiti has recently put into their line up. After purchasing them I made these videos of a brief unboxing of these devices that will be used in my home network. Take a look!

After purchasing the gateway max, I was setting this device up and realized this device does not have a local controller. This was really a major deal breaker for me. The 3 options for the control would then be 1) pay $20 for their cloud subscription, 2) use a controller on another Ubiquiti device, and 3) download the controller software onto a PC. After I looked more at the UDM-Pro it was clear that I wanted the UDM-Pro to be my driver as I build this network. Since the UDM-Pro Max had just arrived on scene I purchased that one with the additional NVR HDD bay and it was the latest and greatest so I went with that one.

PRO-MAX 16 Port PoE

This switch arrived to the lineup of Ubiquiti just in time as I was building out my IDF at my entertainment center. I wanted a switch which had 2.5gb speed capabilities and I wanted to get hands on the etherlighting as well just to see the options and how to make any configurations. The 16 port works very well as it gives me the capacity to grow the network with our residential data needs.
