New Devices – Ubiquiti (Posted May 27, 2024)
These are new devices that Ubiquiti has recently put into their line up. After purchasing them I made these videos of a brief unboxing of these devices that will be used in my home network. This was really a major deal breaker for me. Disposal Time – Networking Equipment (Posted March 7, 2024)
We completed a major clean out in addition to decommissioning a site for a big client of ours. As you can see by all the equipment behind me. The equipment right next to me are all massive server specific UPS’s. Additionally, as you can see further behind me there are switches, pile of servers, in addition to other NVR equipment. With the amount of equipment needing to be disposed we are completing the load outs in waves as we are completing very specific paperwork on the assets of the devices needing to be recorded on their value and approval for being disposed of. These were installed in order to have several camera systems on different buildings conntect to the internet and the main office. There were three appartment buildings, we needed to replace the key link on the center building which connects to the office/internet. Construction had taken place on the roof and the roofers disposed our Ubiquiti devices. Therefore the client was charged for the new devices plus the installation. Milestone! Now CCNA Certified! (Posted Feb 19, 2024)
I passed!!! I am officially a Cisco Certified Network Associate (CNNA) after passing the exam this past weekend! I focused my studies on this endeaver for the last 6 months. My motivation was driven by the value of learning the content and the value that this certification presents. Networks are incredible how they are made and work! I a lot of enjoyment learning this subject, it might be quite “dry” but not when you find it interesting like I do. My key resources were Cisco’s Official Cert Guides (V1 &VII), David Bombal‘s CCNA Course, and also Jeremy’s IT Lab videos on YouTube. Great mixture of resources! A big thank you…

Away From the Computer and Into the Rack! (Posted Jan 27, 2024)
While I’m in front of the screen most of the time. We went to the main server rack for some upgrades! We installed a new server into this rack to grow our storage capacity for a client and retire some old servers. Myself and my co-worker Jesse worked on this task and we absolutely enjoyed working on this project. My team at Fox Tech just began overseeing the Miami site for a client of ours who has other sites out of state and we work with the head of IT of this client who is not primarily assigned to Miami. A Fiber Call Meets a Spaghetti Mess!?!?!?! (Posted Dec 4, 2023)

I was completely shocked walking into this room to see an incredible spaghetti mess of cables. Now we do not manage their server rack or IT for this client as we provide camera installation and management for them. The server room has an element of “T-L-C”!!! I was also informed “it was worse” and they improved it from what it was before. I needed to hold my jaw up as my mouth was wide open in shock at how this server room is completely out of hand.

CCNA HOME LAB!!!! (With Video) (Posted Oct 25, 2023)

I’m also purchasing other devices to add to this rack. I will have 3 Cisco routers, 1 Cisco layer 3 level switch, another Cisco switch and then a Dell switch as of now. Maybe I’ll add more later if I feel the need. With 3 routers I am able to work on routing protocols and I can see how these routers respond to protocol changes. CCNA, I’m Coming for You!
I’m in the thick of studying for this certification! The content is very stimulating to me and I love learning what is under the hood of networks and how they function to provide operations for all of our current day technology. I think of it much like a vehicle in which nearly all adults know how to drive a vehicle, but knowing how the engine works and functions to the small details they are oblivious too. The great thing about working in tech is that you can come by “FREE” unused or old devices to configure and test at home. While the devices are older, these still will provide me the opportunity to familiarize with this type of technology from default and be free to build.
