Milestone! Now CCNA Certified! (Posted Feb 19, 2024)

    July 11, 2026 / 0 Comments

I passed!!! I am officially a Cisco Certified Network Associate (CNNA) after passing the exam this past weekend! I focused my studies on this endeaver for the last 6 months. My motivation was driven by the value of learning the content and the value that this certification presents. Networks are incredible how they are made and work! I a lot of enjoyment learning this subject, it might be quite “dry” but not when you find it interesting like I do. My key resources were Cisco’s Official Cert Guides (V1 &VII), David Bombal‘s CCNA Course, and also Jeremy’s IT Lab videos on YouTube. Great mixture of resources! A big thank you…

Away From the Computer and Into the Rack! (Posted Jan 27, 2024)

    July 11, 2026 / 0 Comments

While I’m in front of the screen most of the time. We went to the main server rack for some upgrades! We installed a new server into this rack to grow our storage capacity for a client and retire some old servers. Myself and my co-worker Jesse worked on this task and we absolutely enjoyed working on this project. My team at Fox Tech just began overseeing the Miami site for a client of ours who has other sites out of state and we work with the head of IT of this client who is not primarily assigned to Miami. The environment pertains to refining where there is the refining/factory…

A Fiber Call Meets a Spaghetti Mess!?!?!?! (Posted Dec 4, 2023)

    July 11, 2026 / 0 Comments

VIDEO HERE – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qJlsRFb9KXI A service call for Fiber issue turned into a scenic show and tell visit. I was completely shocked walking into this room to see an incredible spaghetti mess of cables. Now we do not manage their server rack or IT for this client as we provide camera installation and management for them. The server room has an element of “T-L-C”!!! I was also informed “it was worse” and they improved it from what it was before. I needed to hold my jaw up as my mouth was wide open in shock at how this server room is completely out of hand.

CCNA Home Lab!!! (With Video Part 2) (Posted Nov 8, 2023)

    July 11, 2026 / 0 Comments

VIDEO – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8eIbtfgsr6s All my equipment has arrived save for a few wings for the routers. I have waited to start plugging things in until everything is assembled. You will see I begin turning on the equipment here in this video. I added another power strip after considering the joule count for possible power issues due to not having a UPS for this set up. The first strip I had mounted already had 300 Joules, which I kept on the rack for a secondary power source for hosts. EQUIPMENT LIST 1. Rack – RIVECO 12U Server Rack Open Frame (19 inch).(LINK) 2. Patch Panel – TRENDnet TC-KP24, 24Port 1U Patch…

    Tech Podcast Debut!

    July 11, 2026 / 0 Comments

Video – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1MNDauIqSCA I was invited onto the Techniche Tips podcast with Joseph M. Smith to discuss my career shift into tech while discussing how CourseCareers helped provide training and branding to get into tech. I was also able to learn from the great Josh Madakor on the IT track. I can’t recommend CourseCareers enough for those interested in moving into tech. It was great for Josh to teach the basics of IT and get us doing labs which included Active Directory, DNS Server, Ticketing System and SLAs, Azure, Virtual Machines, and more. Anyone looking to get into tech can take this course and this will help them be set…

CCNA HOME LAB!!!! (With Video) (Posted Oct 25, 2023)

    July 11, 2026 / 0 Comments

VIDEO – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0gV206CiJVw I began building a CCNA Home Lab mostly consisting of unused equipment that I borrowed from my company. I’m also purchasing other devices to add to this rack. I will have 3 Cisco routers, 1 Cisco layer 3 level switch, another Cisco switch and then a Dell switch as of now. Maybe I’ll add more later if I feel the need. With 3 routers I am able to work on routing protocols and I can see how these routers respond to protocol changes. Its been a process getting the rack together, I keep finding this or that which I need to get to keep building it (more…

    CCNA, I’m Coming for You!

    July 11, 2026 / 0 Comments

I’m in the thick of studying for this certification! The content is very stimulating to me and I love learning what is under the hood of networks and how they function to provide operations for all of our current day technology. I think of it much like a vehicle in which nearly all adults know how to drive a vehicle, but knowing how the engine works and functions to the small details they are oblivious too. They just need to know the basics of function to travel and move their stuff. This is much like use of our computers and cell phones in which everyone knows how to “use” the…

Making An Impression! (Posted Oct 10, 2023)

    July 11, 2026 / 0 Comments

On a daily basis I work with people which is a great part of my job. I look forward each day to learning new things about tech and also bringing my gifts, skillset, and past experiences into my work environment with excellence to benefit the people and the mission. My coworker Jesse, that I have been working close with told me on my second day of work that I have already outdone the person that I replaced. I was please to hear this as the person before me was more experienced in tech specific jobs than I am. However, my energy, willingness, and “can-do” attitude was already showing value and…

Look What I Have! (Posted Oct 9, 2023)

    July 11, 2026 / 0 Comments

The great thing about working in tech is that you can come by “FREE” unused or old devices to configure and test at home. While the devices are older, these still will provide me the opportunity to familiarize with this type of technology from default and be free to build. This will come in handy as I am knee deep study for the CCNA certification. Special thanks for Adonis Caballero for his input. Adonis is a friend of mine who is pursing goals in obtaining further education to get his bachelors degree at Pheonix University and has aspirations to get into Cyber Security. We are in frequent discussions about tech…

Working With Server Hard Drives! (Posted Sep 4, 2023)

    July 11, 2026 / 0 Comments

Hitting the ground running! The first day working with my boss, he had me putting together a server and cleaning up these SAS hard drives. The server we were putting together will be a server on site for a client. This experience was the most direct experience I had working with servers and their hard drives and I have really enjoyed getting my hands on with these and getting into the BIOS for a new server.

Focusing on Azure (Posted July 22, 2023)

    July 11, 2026 / 0 Comments

A few weeks ago I added two more books to my library which are Azure Fundamentals Az-900 and Microsoft Certified Associate AZ104. My journey working with Azure began when I started the IT Professional course with Course Careers and since I have had experience working with Azure I decided to keep going down the Azure path over AWS and Google. I realize the each cloud provider seeks to reach the same goal and there are different interfaces and also AWS is the biggest cloud provider, but for me learning and with experience in one of the main cloud providers I decided to just keep going down the Azure path. I’m…

    Linux (Posted July 15, 2023)

    July 11, 2026 / 0 Comments

I make it my goal to continue my linux training through Tryhackme. My goal is to sit down for 30 minutes (or more) for at least 4 days a week to keep a strong progress on this important skill in the IT field. Today I learned about the command “wget” where we are able to pull a file directly from a server. After receiving the file we can read the file using the “cat” command. I continue to learn and grow in my understanding of Linux, yesterday I was creating new files and directories, also making edits with “nano” where I created a brief list. I then moved this file…

Starting New Certificate – Google IT Support Professional (Posted July 15, 2023)

    July 11, 2026 / 0 Comments

Yesterday I made a decision in a new step! Not as big of a decision as a career adjustment, but a time commitment in continuous growth of my tech knowledge and skills. I decided to make an account on Coursera and begin working on the the Google IT Support Professional Certificate. I have seen this certificate come up frequently through CourseCareers discord, and I have heard from others who have landed jobs that the Google IT Support Professional really helps with working on the experience skills and labs which I find to be one of the most help aspects to more concretely express my skills. My first impressions is that…
